Privacy policy

1. What this covers

This policy explains what Capsil ("we") collects when you use https://capsil.space, why, who else processes it, how long it is kept and what you can ask us to do. It is written under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 of India.

2. What we collect

• Account: your name, email address and profile picture from Google when you sign in with Google, or the name and email you type when you sign up with a password. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase and are never visible to us.
• Videos and audio: the files you upload so that captions can be made, the preview copies we make for the editor, and the videos you export.
• Captions and projects: the transcript, the words you edit, the styles and presets you save.
• Usage: the minutes you use (a ledger of every credit and charge), the jobs you run, which plan you are on, and the device and network address of each sign-in (to prevent abuse of free accounts).
• Payments: handled by Razorpay. We receive the payment status, amount and a payment id; we never see your card or bank details.
• Messages: what you send through Feedback or the contact page, with an optional screenshot.

3. Why we use it

To make captions for your video, run your account, charge the right plan, show you your history, answer your messages, keep the service safe, and improve it. We do not sell personal data and we do not use your videos, audio or captions to train models.

4. Who else processes your data

These providers process data on our behalf, only to provide the service:

• Sarvam AI: speech to text and the emphasis-word picker (servers in India).
• Deepgram: word-level timing of the audio (servers in United States).
• Google Firebase: sign-in, the database (projects, presets, minutes ledger) and notifications (servers in Mumbai, India (asia-south1)).
• Razorpay: payments and invoices (servers in India).

Your audio is sent to Sarvam AI and Deepgram to be transcribed and timed, and is not kept by them beyond processing under their terms. Google sign-in shares your name, email and picture with us as described above.

5. How long we keep things

• Uploaded videos and exports: deleted automatically after your plan's keep period (2 days on Free, 7 days on Rise, 30 days on Viral and Empire), or sooner if you delete them.
• Captions, projects and presets: kept while your account exists.
• Minutes ledger, payments and invoices: kept for the period Indian tax and accounting law requires (currently eight years), even after the account is deleted.
• Messages: kept until answered and for a reasonable time after.

6. Cookies and local storage

We use one session cookie to keep you signed in, and the browser's local storage for things like your last chosen language and editor preferences. We do not use advertising cookies. Payment pages from Razorpay and embedded YouTube videos set their own cookies under their policies.

7. Your rights

You can see and correct your details in the app, download your captions, delete a project, and delete your whole account from Settings (this removes your projects, presets and files; the ledger and invoices are kept as the law requires). You can also write to capsilofficial@gmail.com to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it erased. We answer within 30 days.

8. Security

Data travels over HTTPS. Videos are stored on our server and served only to the account that uploaded them. Access to the database is through Google Firebase with rules that restrict every user to their own records. Keys and secrets are kept out of the code.

9. Children

Capsil is for people 18 and over, or younger users with a parent's consent as the DPDP Act requires. If you believe a child has made an account without consent, tell us and we will remove it.
